Report By Vicente Balvanera, recently returned from Argentina

The economic collapse in Argentina has thrown millions of workers on the streets and is destroying the lives of the majority of people. It is also something we cannot ignore and it was instituted in fact by the IMF & World Bank. In the US, the Democrats and Republicans have also pushed privatization and deregulation of the entire economy. This has encouraged a growing corruption scandal that is bigger than the 1930s.
The flagrant corruption and criminality in the White House makes this also the biggest political corruption crisis in the history of the United States. From Bush with Harkin and Cheny with Haliburton to the dozens of others with direct ties to Enrons and other crooked corporations this government is a house of crooks. The battle against the same type of policies and corruption in Argentina is a life and death question for millions. In order to defend themselves, tens of thousands of Argentinian workers and people from the communities are taking over factories, cities and other instittuions as a matter of survival. They are also involved in a fight for a democratic trade union movement. There will be a report on these struggles as well as video tape on the fights by Ojo Obrero, a labor video production group in Buenos Aires.
