Homeland Security clones fan out over San Francisco!

by Bill Carpenter (wcarpent [at] ccsfbay.org)
A secret training session for Homeland Security volunteers was filmed Jan. 11th. ;-) 5.5 minute QT movie, 9.3MB.

A bigger (20 MB), somewhat revised version of this QT movie is on my website.

This video is so obviously fake it's laughable. "Gee, Biff, how do I become involved with the department of Homeland security".

The totally stilted dialog gives it away.

This is how things start that you can't even imagine - they start with people getting together and testing out how to make change. Everyone has to expose themselves, to try things they've never tried. This takes tremendous courage.

I think it's excellent and amazing to be creative in the face of so much darkness.

After the O26th march a professor I knew had vividly recalled the men dressed in business suits with government slogans painted all over them.

That might have looked silly standing at home in front of the mirror - but every little thing can affect different people in different ways. When the professor discussed this in my class, other people spoke up and remembered those people dressed in the suits. It had a big impact, and we didn't realize until we noticed that we had all remembered them so well, albeit different aspects of them.

This project came about as an experiment by local folks trying different ways of communicating, and engaging our community and society as part of what we think of as a laboratory of resistance. We are evaluating and learning from this experiment and looking forward to the next. We hope to provoke widespread and uncharted experimentation to make our movements creative laboratories of resistance and hope.
This is truly brilliant. Something between satire and street theatre.
While projects of this nature may seem trivial, they tend to fire the creative spark in us all. Not to mention going a long way toward reducing those who take such things seriously to the level of little more than court jesters.
Good work!
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
