Two Found Shot to Death near US Plane Crash in Colombia
VOA News

Colombian President Alvaro Uribe says the two people found shot to death amid the wreckage of a crashed U.S. government plane in southern Colombia were murdered.
It is not clear, however, whether the American citizen and Colombian soldier killed were hit by groundfire while in the aircraft or had been shot after it crashed.
Three other Americans traveling on the doomed aircraft are unaccounted for and feared captured by the rebel Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, the FARC. A search is under way for the missing Americans.

JERRY MCDERMOTT IN MEDELLÍN
AT LEAST 15 people were killed yesterday when rebels blew up a house full of mortars as Colombian police were raiding the building, investigators said.
Authorities said rebels of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) had planned to use the mortars to shoot down president Alvaro Uribe’s plane today as he arrived in Neiva, 250 miles south of the capital, Bogotá.
"They were mortars to shoot down the presidential plane," said Hernando Valenzuela, a regional investigator.
Investigators believe that the rebels set off the explosion as police raided the house. FARC has used makeshift mortars to hit targets, but the attacks have been extremely inaccurate. The explosion in Neiva destroyed several homes in the working-class neighbourhood next to the airport.
