Berkeley Contingent -- M15
please link this contingent to M15 feature
Tomorrow, Saturday, March 15, thousands upon thousands of Bay Area citizens
will descend on the Civic Center in San Francisco to protest the impending
war in Iraq. We urge you all to join us at the Downtown Berkeley BART
Station at 9:00 a.m. to form a Berkeley contingent to travel together to San
Francisco for the 11:00 a.m. event.
The Bush Administration has made clear that they want a war, at any cost,
and the United Nations seems powerless to stop them. Indeed, the only thing
that has delayed the onset of the invasion has been the millions of people
across the globe who have taken to the streets to show their opposition to
war. Given the military conditions in Iraq and the eroding diplomatic
situation, war could come at any moment and this may be our LAST CHANCE to
protest before the bombs begin to fall.
This anti-war movement has been described as the fastest-growing in history;
never before have so many people protested against a war before it has even
begun. Unfortunately, Bush has dismissed our massive opposition as a mere
"focus group" and plowed ahead with this unjust and unwise war. Let us come
together tomorrow to show, in one united voice, that pre-emptive war is
wrong and that the lives of innocent Iraqis and American soldiers should
never be spilled over oil and geo-political hegemony.
