To Congressman Ron Paul: The Winter is Getting Colder. The Sands of Time Are Almost Gone.

by Mark Dankof (kramfoknad [at] hotmail.com)
Mark Dankof of Philadelphia asks Congressman Ron Paul of Texas to challenge Bush in 2004 on the latter's unconstitutional, preemptive war for Empire, also accompanied by an assault on the Bill of Rights at home and the advance of The New World Order worldwide.

Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX)
14th Congressional District of Texas
203 Cannon House Office Building
Washington, D. C. 20515

Dear Congressman Paul:

Greetings from suburban Philadelphia on the day after Easter. I trust your holiday was a blessed one with family and friends.

In this spring season, I must confess that I perceive our nation to be in the midst of a deepening winter in its collective fortunes. Our recent preemptive strike against Iraq for Israel and Empire minus a Congressional Declaration of War; the exponential growth in government spending and taxes; the death of American Federalism and its accompanying doctrine of Enumerated Powers; and the burgeoning threat to the Bill of Rights presented by the USA Patriot Act and the proposed Domestic Security Enhancement Act (DSEA) are only a few of the reasons I say this. It is a darkening time in American history. The shining light of the Old Republic is almost out.

For those of us in this country who share my perspective, the options for a Presidential standard bearer in 2004 are presently nonexistent. Mr. Bush and his New World Order are untenable. His counterparts on the Democratic left are equally so. In their mutual drive for World Government, domestic repression and taxes at home, and a perpetually interventionist foreign policy abroad, there is no exit. As my friend Howard Phillips once put it, the only choice is the speed with which the Republicrats will finally drive us over the cliff as a nation. As far as the ultimate destination is concerned, the outcome of the present course is assured.

Americans who yearn for a return to the Old Republic and the original intent of the Founders of this country need a standard bearer in the Presidential election year of 2004 who will honestly advance these principles, policies, and ideas. I believe that person is you. I do not know whether the best venue for your run would be against Bush in the Republican primaries, or as a 3rd party candidate in the fall of 2004. But I do know that minus your candidacy, there is no one else in the present milieu of national American politics with your credentials, stature, and ideological consistency available to consider the challenge.

It is my understanding that your present inclination is to run again for the Congressional seat in the 14th Congressional District of Texas. While I would support your endeavors in any event, I do urge you to prayerfully deliberate over the option of a Presidential run in 2004, not simply for the advancement of Constitutional principles then, but also as a foundational move in the building of a viable national political party dedicated to the same course of direction in future years.

The winter only gets colder. The sands of time are almost out of the hourglass. All of us need you. Now.

Sincerely,

Mark Dankof
