Reaching out to losers?
Clinton did it. Bush won't.
To the San Francisco Chronicle:
Barbara Wilson rhetorically asks "Did anyone tell Bill Clinton to reach out to the Republicans when he was elected, or tell him to moderate his policy to be sure to include the Republicans? How many Republicans were in Clinton's cabinet?"
[ -- Letters, S.F. Chronicle, __ Nov. 2004.]
As a centrist, and as an empathetic person,
Clinton didn't need to be TOLD.
He promptly reached out to embrace his defeated opponent,
awarding Bob Dole the Medal of Freedom,
our nation's highest civilian honor.
He moderated Democratic policies to please Congressional Republicans.
In my queer opinion, he did so excessively.
And yes, he had at least one Republican in his cabinet.
If Ms. Wilson had been reading NEWSPAPERS
during the Clinton era, she'd know these plain facts.
Did she instead rely upon the boob tube,
which peddles cotton-candy infotainment
as a malnourishing substitute for real news?
Bush's handlers must be glad so few of today's voters
still read newspapers.
