Last Tuesday, Fresno human and civil rights issues took to the streets of DC.

After learning that Mayor Alan Autry was in town attending the 2005 Mayor's Business Conference, Fresno's R.a.N.C.o.r Collective organized a demonstration at the Capitol Hilton where the conference was being held.

While Mayor Alan Autry listened to Tom Ridge discuss further plans for civil rights violations and an end to free speech, the group occupied the lobby of the hotel before being escorted into the snow by security.

While not warmly received by security, local residents voiced support and gave thumbs up at the protest highlighting Autry's stance on domestic surveillance and outspoken biogtry towards Fresno's LGBTI Commuity.

Numerous attempts to contact Autry in person and via phone where ignored.

While reasonable individuals, these security guards seem ashamed to be protecting a bigot.

It may have been snowing, but for these activists from the much warmer Central Valley, no amount of cold could outweigh the importance of the issues they were there to shine a light on.
