Mountainriver.org - building a collective

by dave (highsierrabum [at] aol.com)
Only put up a week ago, Mountainriver.org is hoping to become a resource for activists nationwide

A very new site, not even hardly built yet, but with high aspirations none the less.

Do you have information, pictures, habitat/wildlife studies, regarding the Headwaters/Mattole area? I've researched a lot, read some of the EIS from '99, scanned through the HCP, read other peoples summaries of the struggle and possibly damamges to wildlife, but I could use more input, even the Headwaters section, which is the only one online as of now, needs more work before it reaches the point of simply updating. Also if you have friends involved in Red Cloud Thunder or other tree sits taking place throughout the country let them know about the site if you can, and maybe together we can create an online oracle for environmental preservation.

i've paid to rid the site of mandatory freespace ads, and also paid for the domain name. Ftp access can be given out to those willing and knowledgeable, to update their news/information/pics directly to the site.

myself i'll be working on it over the next couple days as intensively as i can(i've been too busy the last few to do much except post the latest news i've found) to get more data online regarding other forest preservation issues(roadless area protection plan-call the president and ask for protection of the Tongass National Forest in the plan and for stricted controls of logging in the plan was well...could protect upwards of 60 million acres)

down the line, the site will expand to include arctic action, alternative energy, organic foods and a holistic approach to life.

may the rivers run clean, the mountains stay warm.

peace love and mountains
