Action & Workshops vs Ecuadorian oil pipeline

by Freeda Alida Burnstad (alida [at] cloudforest.org)
An international oil consortium has won acceptance to build a new pipeline through four National Parks in Ecuador. Other routes are available; however, the Ecuadorian President has backed this route to prove that he is potent. Non-violence workshops are being organized, direct actions are planned. You all need to help!
Urgent call to Action and Attention

The government of Ecuador and OCP (a consortium of international oil investors) have chosen to ignore the voice of the people and have decided to build the oil pipleine through the highly disputed northern route rather than exploring the route of least impact. In the words of the president \"Va porque va\", translated \"it will go through the northern rute because it will\".

However the non-violent resistance does not stop here! The people of the communities affected will continue the struggle through litigation, international pressure, and methods of non-violent direct action.

People, strategic support, and financial support are greatly needed!

Please send this call to action to all list serves and activists dedicated to defending environmental and human rights.

Your help is needed now! We invite you to come to Ecuador to learn more and help out. Please send funds or materials on strategies of non-violent direct action and contact your media resources as international attention and voice is needed.

See below for contact and information addresses as well as upcoming events!
