"Labor On The Job" Presents
SF Labor Protests War On Afghanistan
& FREE THE CHARLESTON 5 STRUGGLE
Thursday October 25, 2001 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Citivisions Channel 29
San Francisco, California
Join Labor On The Job when we show the voices of trade unionists who are speaking out on the US bombing of Afghanistan. Over 5,000 workers and anti-war activists marched in San Francisco on October 20th and Labor On The
Job was there to get their views. Will this bombing solve the problem of terrorism or is being used to attack civil rights and to escalate the attack on working people here in the US? Trade unionists from GCIU, UAW, IAM, AFT, SEIU, ILWU, AFSCME and others speak out as well as Walter Johnson, Secretary-Treasurer of the San Francisco Labor Council.
Also we will premier the new support video for the Charleston 5 ILA members.
Titled Free The Charleston 5, the video takes us to the battle on the docks and interviews Peter Washington, one of the defendants. It also includes segments from the mass labor community support rally in South Carolina's capital Columbia on June 9, 2001.
"Labor On The Job" is the longest running labor cable show in the United States. It has been programmed since 1983. It is produced by the Labor Video Project and it is also programmed in Sacramento, California; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Kalamazoo, Michigan.
"Labor On The Job" also produces labor documentaries and is part of the Union Producers and Programmers Network (UPPNET).
