HEADS UP, HUSSEIN:YOU'RE NEXT

HEADS UP, HUSSEIN:YOU'RE NEXT

By STEVE DUNLEAVY

October 22, 2001 -- IF I were Saddam Hussein, I wouldn't start writing any long books.
Look, President Bush didn't increase the CIA budget by $1 billion so the boys can buy more paper clips.

It is clear Osama bin Laden is just the preliminary to the main event.

Secretary of State Colin Powell has stopped short of putting the whammy on Saddam.

But yesterday, when asked on "Meet the Press" whether there was any thought that Saddam could be involved in biochemical weaponry against us, he said: "I wouldn't put it past Iraq."

Neither would Richard Spertzel. He's one of the country's top bioweapons experts.

Spertzel fingers Saddam's top bioterror expert - a woman with the charming pet name of "Dr. Germ" - as the prime suspect behind the anthrax attack.

Saddam, unlike his friends in the Taliban, apparently doesn't discriminate against women - as long as he can find one as evil as he is. Rihab Taha, the female scientist who's reputed to carry out her experiments on human guinea pigs, runs his germ-warfare laboratories.

Let's not discriminate against women, either. When we give Saddam what he deserves, let's make sure we don't leave Dr. Germ behind.

Washington sources have admitted privately that Saddam is the ultimate target for the rat catchers.

Osama bin Laden is just a ragged serial killer.

Saddam is a Hitler, a Stalin, a Pol Pot.

And he could get awfully unlucky if a couple of million dollars was spread around for someone to plant a well-placed rocket in his pocket.

The line goes, where will Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden be at Christmas? Answer: dead.

Let's return to the cliché, if we don't look at history, we're condemned to repeat it.

President Bush's own father, a great guy, admits he made a mistake by not pushing all the way to Baghdad and making Saddam history.

The suspension of the bombing of North Vietnam cost American lives, Vietnamese lives, and led to a defeat.

Pulling back to the 37th Parallel in Korea was a great blunder.

President Truman's firing of Gen. Douglas MacArthur because he wanted to chase the Chinese across the Yalu River was another mistake.

Gen. George Patton, a great American hero, was almost deemed to be insane when he suggested we re-arm Germany to go against the Russians.

It's now time to go full speed ahead and see that Saddam Hussein departs - from Iraq if not from this earth.

On a glorious Saturday night at Madison Square Garden, a veteran firefighter who lost a brother at the World Trade Center spoke for all of New York when he said: "Osama bin Laden can kiss my royal Irish ass."

He could have added: "And Saddam Hussein can kiss his own ass . . . goodbye."

It's rather ironic to see that frothing, belligerent, authoritarian right-wingers are regularly resorting to simple plagiarism as a means of self-expression, since it means violating the rights of the very writers and corporate interests which they apparently worship.

What we're seeing, in both columns like Dunleavy's and in the behavior of the trolls who steal them for spam material, isn't a political belief, or even a belief at all. That kind of vindictiveness, that kind of sheer hostility, doesn't come from thought. It's an expression of an emotional need.

This is an example of someone's gnawing need to assuage their own rage at their life by lashing out at someone else, finally given a focus and sense of justification by external contingencies. Hating someone else to keep the mind off of one's own self-hate.

That sort of motivation breathes from many of the Freeper types who post here. It's also not hard to recognize in quite a bit of the "left" commentary which piles up here.

Oh "Bob" and "Connie", is all "political" opinion in the world simply the result of bad toilet training?

I'm starting to think so.
