What if bin Laden was in Europe?

by islamaic republic news agency
for american patriots who do not understand why this is a racist, unjust war, try to get some perspective in your life.
What if bin Laden were hiding in Europe?
Tehran, Nov 4, IRNA -- The English-Language ''Kayhan International'' in its viewpoint column on Sunday questioned what if Osama bin Laden, the alleged mastermind of the terrorist attacks on the United States had been hidden in some Western country, whether America and Britain would launch such a wide-scale military attack on that country.

It said, the ongoing bombardment of the civilians in Afghanistan has made everyone wonder about the aims of the U.S.-Britain intervention in our eastern neighbor.

After weeks of bombardment of the innocent civilians, pointed out the daily, are the United States and Britain any closer to apprehending the alleged mastermind of the terrorist attacks on the United States, Osama bin Laden? The response, according to most pundits, is no.

As former Iranian president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said in one of his Friday prayer sermons in Tehran after the September 11, following the terrorist attacks on the United States an unprecedented
consensus was created in the world to fight terrorism. But the United States and Britain failed to take advantage of this golden opportunity. The process is now reversed. Instead of sympathizing
with the Americans, the whole world is sympathizing with the Afghans, it said.
The whole world now is not thinking about the horrible events of September 11, but rather about the large-scale human tragedy that is unfolding in Afghanistan every day because of the joint American-British military adventurism.

''Up to what point should the Afghan people pay the price of the indiscretions of the Taliban and the cruelty of the Americans and the British policy makers?'' ''How long should the bombardment continue
in this country already devastated by war, famine, ethnic cleansing and fratricide,'' questioned the daily.

What if Osama bin Laden, the alleged mastermind of the terrorist attacks on the United States, was living in some Western country? What if he were living in the forests of Germany, would the U.S.-Britain bombers ''carpet bomb'' the whole Germany, destroy homes and infrastructural facilities in order to either ''bring justice to the terrorists or bring terrorists to justice.'' What sort of justice is
this that entails so much injustice against the innocent civilians? asked the daily.
Truly this is not what Britain itself has done whenever there has been an IRA bombing in London. The British have to sent their helicopters and bomber planes to attack Irish people, Irish businesses
and Irish pubs. What makes this situation so strange is that bin Laden
and the members of al-Qaeda are not even Afghans, but Afghan people
have had to pay the price of their presence there, the daily said.
The fact that Americans and the British are ready to destroy every
thing in Afghanistan in their attempts to mete out ''justice'' on bin
Laden and his supporters is indicative of their deep hatred for
Muslims. If Afghanistan was somewhere in the middle of Europe and if
Muslim Afghans were light-skinned Anglo-Saxon Christians, there would
have been none of the carpet bombings, none of the cluster bombs and
none of the atrocities that the Americans and the British have
committed in recent weeks, concluded the daily.
You've got to be kidding. It's not all that long ago that the US and Britain DID carpet bomb Germany (ie: within my lifetime if not within my memory).

Those of you who believe that willingness to kill people requires them to be considered a different race better take a closer look at human history. Humans do NOT seem to require much of an excuse to kill their fellow humans. And the motivation for wars can't be as simple as "capitalism" since we've been waging wars for at least 7000 years* and capitalism as an economic system has only been around a few hundred.

Look, the US has been in existence ~225 years during which time we fought European countries four times. That's on average once every 56 years (ie: expectation of within a lifetime).

* evidence? Jericho had a defensive wall by 5000 BCE and folks don't bother building one of those without a reason.

In his autobiography Bill Mauldin noted that the perjorative names used by American G.I.s for German troops were nearly always ethnic rather than political, i.e., even though the U.S. was engaged in a war brought on by Nazism, Willie and Joe called their opponents "krauts" or "squareheads", not "Nazis" or "Fascists".

To the G.I.s fighting in Korea, the enemy weren't "commies", they were "chinks", "gooks" and "slants".

It's also worth noting that the war in the Pacific was more atrocious and desperate than the war in Europe (considering the behavior of the combatants towards each other).

The evidence seems to be that while you merehumes don't need much excuse to start robbing and killing each other, making real atrocity widespread requires an ability to dehumanize the enemy completely in one's mind, and that this is made easier if the "Other" is of a different ethnicity, and much easier if s/he is visibly different, i.e., of a different "race".

A plague on your useless species.

surely you can't be so ignorant of current events to have said that.

if osama bin-ladin was hiding in germany when the attacks were launched would we have bombed them?

what a ridiculous question to ask.

first off, what's important is that the taliban HARBORED bin-ladin for years from the united states. that they gave him safety so that he could attack the United States without having to worry about extradition.

what's important is that the United States warned afghanistan on TEN SEPARATE OCCASIONS that they would be held responsible for anything that bin-ladin does so long as they are giving him a safe place to hide.

i doubt that germany would ever do such heinous acts as the taliban did with bin-ladin

leftist intellectual bankruptcy rears its ugly head yet again

You mean Hitler wasn't as bad as bin Laden, or Germany didn't harbor Hitler?
by blah
The idea that Osama bin Laden orchestrated and pulled off this attack is not proven. It is proven to George Bush, CNN and Tony Blair. But that is not "proof" to me. If that is "proof" to you, you are an idiot. You cannot answer these with "ohhh the taliban did this and the taliban did that" ... when there is absolutely no fucking proof.

The question of whether or not the anti-terrorist coalition would bomb western europe were OBL found to be hiding there is a stupid point.

The present governments in western europe would cooperate in bringing this criminal to justice so there would be no need for violence.

And, if by some strange reason they did shelter him (as Germany 'sheltered' Hitler) then yes, the coalition would probably do whatever was necessary to bring that regeime down (as a coalition did in WWII).

Since an terrorism as a whole is hard to attack directly, all the corrupt and rotten props supporting it must be kicked out - false charities, laundered terrorist money, supportive dictatorships, huge gaps in visa laws, etc.

Its certainly a bit more focused a strategy than that used in the past.

And yet, so many war criminals are harbored in the U.S. and Europe. We just never hear about them. Because those "war criminals" are protected by U.S. fascism. I wonder why that is. Oh well, bombs away!

Said it before, I'll say it again: Americans are stupid.

Had Bin Laden been hiding in a civilized country dedicated to freedom's', would have been no need to bomb. He could have been killed by them for us, (US).
I believe he may have been out of afghanistan by midnight sept 10th. He's a foxish little inbred mutant dog.
If he has escaped to another country, where perhaps there is sympathy for his symptons of head trauma. Then I see no reason not to focus full military assault there. Its rough guys I know. Ya gotta grab a branch and hang on.
