I am calling this alert because, once again, I have been contacted by an Indigenous family that has had their infant baby girl Hope Red Hawk kidnapped and held hostage by the "social services of the State of California" this time.

Two days after birth a baby girl named Hope Red Hawk was taken from her mother and father Chia and Aaron Francis Red Hawk by the attending physician. He reported the mother to Child Protective Services for allegedly refusing a cesarean section. Chia and her midwives strongly assert that she was never offered the option of a cesarean and the vaginal delivery caused the baby respiratory problems. It seems that the physician acted upon a fear of liability for his negligence. The delivery was originally scheduled as a home birth but when the midwives assessed a potential problem the family went to the hospital--a Catholic Hospital mind you. Baby Hope is currently being held at a "medically sensitive" foster home and her mom allowed to breast feed her 5 times a week for 2 hours (even though CPS is not even adhering to this court ordered visitation), she is taken from her mom immediately when the alloted time is up, even if she is crying because she wants to s tay in her mother's arms!!!

The next court date is this Friday, May 24th at 9:00 am at the Santa Cruz Superior Court Department 5, located at the Government Center. If you leave in the Bay Area/Santa Cruz vicinity please come and support the family!! (call us at 415-648-5936 for more detailed information).
