Direct Action and Forest Defense Skillshare

by Millet
Come and to our workshops an trainings in the forests of southern Humboldt!
We invite everyone to come and learn about non-violent forest defense, and other forms of direct action, June 1st-9th in the woods of Southern Humboldt County. The trainings, workshops and other events that we’ve confirmed so far are; Non-violence, Tree-Climbing/Defense, Wilderness First Aid, Backwoods Living, Guerilla theatre workshop, Blockading workshop, Mattole THP (Timber Harvest Plan) Day Hike, Tree-sit supply run(s).
Directions- To find the Skillshare site get on the 101 and head towards southern Humboldt. Look for the Honeydew exit south of Redcrest and north of Weott. This road will take you through the several old-growth redwood groves next to Bull creek and then begins to climb up into the mountains once you pass Cuneo Horse Camp. Once you have traveled approximately 11 miles from the 101 start to look on the right for the welcome area. There is no fee for the skill share other than occasional hat passing and whatever donations you can bring such as, food, warm clothes, sleeping bags, extra pairs of boots and other woods gear.

There are at least a couple of spring-fed creeks nearby the campsite so please bring water containers and ,if you wish, water filters.
The trainings we’ve confirmed so far are; non-violence training, tree-climbing and defense training, backwoods living, guerilla theatre and art workshop, wilderness first-aid, blockade workshop. There will be a group hike to a timber harvest plan in the Mattole that borders Humboldt Redwood State Park on Wednesday the fifth.

The organizers of this event have chosen not to define themselves with a group name but wish to express our commitment to non-violent civil disobedience and direct action and our desire to work with the logging community and public agencies to find peaceful and effective long term solutions as has been the tradition here in Humboldt County for many years.
Please bring appropriate clothing and gear such as, Warm Clothes (preferably not cotton), Rain Gear, Tent or Tarp, Eating Utensils and Dishes, Comfortable Shoes.
Currently there are two tree-villages in Humboldt county and more Timber Harvest Plans in magnificent un-entered old-growth Douglas Fir forest in the headwaters of the North Fork Mattole River.

Please try to contact us ahead of time if you would like to do a workshop, training etc, or if you have any questions.
We are busy working on the schedule of events and will hopefully be able to post it soon!
The location of the Skillshare has been confirmed and will be announced a week before June 1st at this website and at (707) 825-6598.

this is probably a no-duh, but beware of the undercover pigs and Maxaam agents who will undoubtedly be there and be taking notes, photos, et cetera....

I wish to encourage people to bring mountain bikes if you can. It is possible that we may have a group bike-ride during the week and bikes may come in handy for other things as well.

How is it going? How many people have shown up? Folks in the Pacific Northwest would like to know.

About sixty or so people came to share and learn about non-violent ways to defend the forest! Set back on BLM land the site was perfect. The camp was beautiful and people as far away as New York came.

The only foul encounter was with a bag of feces thrown by an angry person. The night before the shitty experience, the cars were egged. Just goes to show the violence activists have to put up with in this brainwashed culture.

This summer is going to be incredibly interesting, so if anyone is up for some forest defense, come to Humboldt and call (707) 825-6598.

We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
