These guys did a great thing - they offered free beautiful stickers to anyone who would hand write a letter to Ellen Tauscher asking her to vote against nukes. She voted yes on Fast Track.

This is worse than television!
All pictures, no information.
How many people were there?
What were they demanding?
How many people got arrested?
by vic
My apologies for not writing more text - I was rushing off to go see the Father Bill O'Donnell (of SOA watch) presentation in Berkeley. Although I was there, I didn't follow up on the number of arrests - it was *very* tame and symbolic.

I was told, however, by a veteran arrestee, that although the number of people in the crowd was larger than in past years, the number *getting arrested* was smaller. I'm not sure why that is, but I think we can all guess that with fascism already here, it's no wonder people are nervous, even for these symbolic things.

Nuns and priests in their 70's - 90s + are being arrested every year at the SOA in Georgia and put in jail for up to 6 months - the maximum. They're being fined the maximums also. You never know what they're going to do.

But sometimes I just don't have the time, or else someone else has already done it. This event was on the news - I was told - and had good coverage.

Basically, I don't even have time to watch the news, and to be honest, would rather not. But if you do, just take their numbers and double it, and that's how many people there were. I'm no good at estimating numbers. I thought the Santa Rosa rally last week was about 200, and everyone else said it was more like 400.

They were getting arrested because they were symbollically entering the property of Livermore nuketown - owned by God's country, The US of A, brought to you by the new and improved Disney Fascism Society. What new war can we sell to you today?

So sometimes I just post the pix.

With the Ottawa postings that I did, I wrote a lot because there wasn't much coverage here - at all - and so it was important to get that info out.

To "another Livermore protestor":
Great pics & narration. Highest quality. Nice ending picture, as well.

Thanks!

I have to admit as well, this protest was one of the best we've been to as well.

Cheers!

There were 52 people arrested, all were released with citations. As far as I know no one received a court date.

Roughly 600 people attended the event which remembered the horrors of nuclear war and the devestation of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. It was a day to unite against nuclear weapons in the city where new mini and earth penetrating nukes are designed.

The importance of having events like this in Livermore can not be underestimated. The presence permeated and even a few lab workers and relatives of lab workers specifically gave thanks that this march and rally happened. It gave them the support they need to embrace alternative choices in their life and express a point of view that strays from legitimizing the development of weapons of mass destruction.

by Lots of suicidal old degenerates at LLNatLabs
God these people are nauseating. These are degenerates, who feel a lot of guilt over the perversions they've committed, and the lives they've destroyed as a result, so they try to assuage their guilt by assigning to some entity other than themselves, in this case the US government. Now they have an entity to which they can ascribe all the guilt they feel over their abortions, adulteries, alcoholisms, child molestation, diseases, etc. These are suicidal degenerates who claim to represent "the people", when nothing could be farther from the truth. "The people" want nothing to do with these sheltered degenerates from wealthy families. That's why a mob attacked the washed-up degenerate reporter Robert Fisk in afghanistan. They saw that he was a self-hating, suicidal, alcoholic degenerate, and that he had no regard whatsoever for his own life, or - therefore - for the life of anyone else. So they reacted instively to neutralize the threat, and beat the shit out of him.
