On Tuesday, August 13, there will be two events taking place in
support of Toni Parks, an active organizer for the UCSF workers union,
AFSCME, and the Coalition.

Toni is a 12 year career UCSF clinical lab employee at SFGH who had
recently transferred to a new position in research, an entirely
different setting. After being given insufficient training, Toni made
a mistake at work and was terminated. Until her transfer, Toni had a
spotless 12 year record.

UCSF has run Clinical Labs for years like a plantation. A good sixth
of the people at working at SF General Hospital are UCSF employees.
Because UCSF is a academic and research institution rather than a City
institution, it gets away with much more arbitrary and capricious
discipline, even though its workers are contracted to do City work.
City officials have said they prefer to have UCSF do work like
clinical labs because they can do it cheaper. So we're all in this
together. Please come out to support Toni and demand that UCSF back
down

Simultaneous actions will be taking place at SFGH and UCSF Parnassus
at 12 noon. If you work at the General and can help on your lunch
break, please call 566-6477 or talk to Dale Beevers in the SFGH
Clinlabs.

If you are not at SFGH, please come to a rally in front of Moffitt
Long Hospital at UCSF Parnassus from 12-1.
