Emergency: strategies needed on Iraq

by Mark C (strategysocialforum [at] yahoogroups.com)
This is not local news, but a request to local activists, please send your ideas, we have a tough short-term campaign and everyone can use the ideas between your ears as soon as you communicate.
Immediate need: we are seeking brief strategy papers on current US policy toward Iraq

Specifically, we are seeking strategy papers or action plans on what we (peace and anti-war movements) can do in the very short term to prevent Congress from following the President into war.

It's estimated that Congress may vote on the war around the first week in October! What ideas do you have for effective actions in such a short term?

By effective, we mean: changing the minds of congress-persons, and getting them (or keeping them) against the war. Or causing the Public to call (louder) for an end to the war. Or a few brilliant ideas for a media campaign. Any good ideas that you have, please send.

Length: 1-5 pages is the ballpark length (but we won't hold you back if you get inspired.)

You can send your idea(s) to strategysocialforum [at] yahoogroups.com which will then be posted in the FORUM PAPERS section of the site.

The goal is to have good ideas for the national peace groups to consider, and for the grass-roots campaigns as well.

In three weeks, some of these papers will be presented in the Social Forum on Stopping the War In Iraq, (Sunday September 29 in Washington DC--by then, some of the ideas may already be starting to be used around the country.
