Iraq has defied 14 U.N. Security Council Resolutions, but Israel has been condemned, deplored, censured and warned of dire consequences by the UN Security Council 60 times since the Jewish state was created in 1948.

Israel has been condemned, deplored, censured and warned of dire consequences by the UN Security Council 60 times since the Jewish state was created in 1948.

The U.S. has used its veto powers to block 26 U.N. Security Council resolutions aimed at Israel since 1948. The U.S. has headed off voting on another 42 UN Security Council Resolutions against Israel.

And Israeli Violations of International Law consist of:

Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 (Israeli ratification in July 1951)

Article 33
No protected person may be punished for an offense he or she has not personally committed. Collective penalties and likewise all measures of intimidation or terrorism are prohibited.

Article 39
Where a party to the conflict applies to a protected person methods of control which result in his being unable to support himself...is prevented for reasons of
security from finding paid employment...the said party shall ensure his support and that of his dependents.

Article 49
An occupier does not have any sovereignty over an occupied territory. The occupying power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.

Individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory...are prohibited regardless of their motive.

No acquisition of land purposed for settlement or to provide services to settlers.

Article 53
Any destruction by the occupying power of real or personal property is prohibited.

Article 55
The occupying power ha the duty of ensuring the food and medical supplies of the population: it should, in particular, bring in the necessary foodstuffs, medical
stores and other articles if the resources of the occupied territory are inadequate.

Article 56
The occupying power has the duty of ensuring and maintaining...the medical and hospital establishments and services, public health and hygiene in the occupied territory...Medical personnel of all categories shall be allowed to carry out their duties.

Annex 3, Article 28(11):

The Palestinian side has the right, with prior approval of Israel, to grant residence in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip:...b. spouses and children of Palestinian

residents; and c. other persons, for humanitarian reasons, in order to promote and upgrade family reunification.

United Nations Security Council Resolution 242

November 22, 1967

The Security Council,

Expressing its continuing concern with the grave situation in the Middle East.

Emphasizing the inadmissibility of the acquisition of territory by war and the need to work for a just and lasting peace in which every State in the area can live
in security,

Emphasizing further that all Member States in their acceptance of the Charter of the United Nations have undertaken a commitment to act in accordance with Article 2 of the Charter,

1. Affirms that the fulfillment of the Charter principles requires the establishment of a just and lasting peace in the Middle East which should include
the application of both the following principles:

(i) Withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from territories occupied in recent conflict;

(ii) Termination of all claims or states of belligerence and respect for and acknowledgement of the right to sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence of every state in the area and their right to live in peace within secure and recognized boundaries free from threats or acts of force;


2. Affirms further the necessity

(a) For guaranteeing freedom of navigation through international waterways in the area;

(b) For achieving a just settlement of the refugee problem

(c) For guaranteeing the territorial inviolability and political independence of every State in the area, through measures including the establishment of demilitarized zones.



United Nations Security Council Resolution 338

(October 22, 1973, concerning the October War)

The Security Council

1. Calls upon all parties to the present fighting to cease all firing and terminate all military activity immediately, no later than 12 hours after the moment
of adoption of this decision, in the positions they now occupy;

2. Calls upon all parties concerned to start immediately after the cease-fire the implementation of Security Council Resolution 242 (1967) in all its parts;

3. Decides that, immediately and concurrently with the cease-fire, negotiations shall start between the parties concerned under appropriate auspices aimed at establishing a just and durable peace in the Middle East.

(March 19, 1978, concerning Israel's invasion of Lebanon)

The Security Council,

Taking note of the letters from the Permanent Representative of Lebanon and from the Permanent Representative from Israel,

Having heard the statement of the Permanent Representatives of Lebanon and Israel,

Gravely concerned at the deterioration of the situation in the Middle East and its consequences to the maintenance of international peace,

Convinced that the present situation impedes the achievement of a just peace in the Middle East,

1. Calls for strict respect for territorial integrity, sovereignty and political independence of Lebanon within its internationally recognized borders;

2. Calls upon Israel immediately to cease its military action against Lebanese territorial integrity and withdraw its forces from all Lebanese territory;

3. Decides, in light of the request of the Government of Lebanon, to establish immediately under its authority a United Nations interim force for Southern Lebanon for the purpose of confirming the withdrawal of Israeli forces, restoring international peace and security and assisting the Government of Lebanon in ensuring the return of its effective authority in the area, the Force to be composed of personnel drawn from Member States...
