Schwarzenegger Threat: Bay Area Progressives Debate What To Do Now
KPFA hosted an hour long discussion/debate on the subject of what progressives should do now that Arnold's poll numbers are strengthening. A variety of positions are aired, and while some of the arguments are the sort you would expect the debate is nonetheless thoughtful.

I listened to it before and to me it seemed like Randy Shaw made some bizarre comments. Some of it made sense, but some of it was really off the wall, like saying that Davis is so progressive and that he signs so much progressive stuff, that Burton is so progressive, that our whole legislature is so progressive, etc. I agree that generally when progressive stuff happens it's a grass roots effort through the legislature, but either Davis signs it or he doesn't.
And meanwhile a lot of things suck - our schools are barely making it, we have the death penalty still in place, the prisons are gowing like widlflowers, we sold out to the energy companies with deregulation, etc., etc.
I think painting Davis as being so progressive is bizarre, even if you are just trying to keep Arnold out.

Regardless of what you think of Davis, he ain't worse than half of the politicians out there.
Anyone who wants Bush and the right wing Republicans out of our office, vote NO on the CA Recall. And NO on Prop 54.
Just remember if any of these sound familiar to you when Arnold said:
1. He's an outsider. (Just as much an outsider as Bush in '01)
2. He wants change. ( What will the Republicans change?)
3. He's the boss. (is he? He knows nothing about governing. We've seen how the Republicans use Bush, a doodler on everything, as the front. Now a muscle man?)
4. He doesn't receive favors from special interests. (Right, Arnold. Big businesses aren't special interests!)
5. What has Arnold say that convinced you he's even remotely qualified to run the world's 5th largest economy?
6. Pete Wilson, the real power terminator.
....
Enough said.

And your little leftist bullshit bubble is about to get popped. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
I guess it's a little late for that. True?
The Democrats were stupid. They should have pushed Davis to just hand the government over to Bustamante, which would have happened by default if Davis just resigned.
Oh well.
I say the above strictly as a political observation, and not as a deep reflection seasoned with my own political leanings (which are not in favor of Democrats).

are you aware of the fact that California now makes more money off a Pack of cigarettes that the tobacco companies do?
so let's get behind Cruze Bustamante in balancing the state budget !
TELL YOUR CHILDREN TO TAKE UP SMOKING TODAY!

Mark my words. Arnold will not only fail in this political take over, he'll also suffer in his film career. His dirts are out in the open, and more on the way.
So long, chump!
