by Eric Wagner (eric [at] basetree.com)
Marriage Equality March and Rally
the_grooms_1.jpg
On the day that Massachusetts became the first state to allow same-sex couples to marry, San Francisco joined in the celebration by marching to the steps of City Hall. The same City Hall where, in defiance of California state law, San Francisco married thousands of same sex couples before being shut down by a court injunction.

Speakers at the event included the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, LeiLani Dowell, and, the honorary Diva of the event, Margaret Cho.

Why how odd! Those signs look just like the ones ANSWER prints up for all their protests! Could it be...? And what in the world does the word "racism" have to do with gay marriage? Well, the ANSWER is nothing. Get a clue, please. This new little group who put on this thing yesterday is a front. They are a "new" organization formed by our old Stalinist friends at the Workers World Party. A front that they will try to use to "radicalize" gay people. They are NOT wanted or needed in OUR community. We fight out own battles, and we don't need stooges like ANSWER butting in. I am a gay man who has lived here since 1972 and I know these are NOT OUR FRIENDS. Tell your friends. Look into it yourself. Do NOT let our movement be corrupted by the ANSWER cult.

I am not a big ANSWER fan, however, they certainly are good at organizing events.

we've really got a lot of work to do, those of us who want a world free of the heirarchy, domination and oppression that are inherent in the state.

if our society collapsed tomorrow, (and its really not all that far off, imho) it looks like answer would be in charge. they sure seem to have the most money...
