WAR: Festival Against Imperialism (Lawrence, KS: June 30-July 4)

On June 30th- July 3, Lawrence, Kansas will play host to a conference being billed as We Are Resisting. We Are Resisting will be organized to try to bring together various elements in the struggles against Imperialism at home and abroad for an open dialogue to help solidify a movement for true social change.

While being organized as a conference to bring together many types of people from various backgrounds and outlooks, the We Are Resisting Conference is being organized by anarchists, and will have a focus on radical and revolutionary critiques and solutions to modern day colonialism and empire-building.

The conference will take place at the University of Kansas. We Are Resisting is also being organized to co-incide with a day of action against imperialism at home and abroad.

On July 4th, Lawrence anarchists are calling for a day of action and protest at Leavenworth, Kansas. Leavenworth is home to one of the oldest Federal Prisons in the country, as well as Fort Leavenworth, a U.S. Military Installation. Fort Leavenworth hosts the Command and General Staff College, a branch of the Combined Arms Center. The CGSC trains thousands of commanding officers for the United States military every year. The CGSC also hosts an international program that helps to train military officers from across the world in the "art of war and armed diplomacy."

We Are Resisting!

Goals of the War Conference:


1. The facilitation of dialogue and a forum for networking betwen communtities in the struggle against imperialism.
2. Creating personal links and a sense of accountability between those resisting imperialism.
3. Creating a forum for education to enable understanding of the mechanisms of imperialism and its resistance.
4. Creating a broad based, non-reformist anti-imperiaist movement that offers real alternatives to war, genocide, and capitalism.
5. Highlighting imperialism in Leavenworth.
6. Creating an open forum for prisoners to talk about their struggle.
7. Creating a sense of solidarity and mutual recognition of resistance between those in and out of prison.
