8/31 Arnold again mocks "girly-men"

by Liberty
California's RINO Governator fascinates Republican conventioneers in NYC.
Tuesday, 31 August:

Caliornia Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger and First Lady Laura Bush are the big acts at the RNC
on Tuesday night in NYC.

Arnold recalls his childhood, when he and his family feared visiting the Soviet-occupied sector of Austria, tho they sometimes did so. After the occupation ended, Austrians democratically elected a socialist government, which Arnold disliked.

When he came to the U.S. in 1968, he watched the Nixon-Humphrey debates on television. Since he couldn't yet speak English, a friend translated the debate into German. Quickly Arnold decided that Nixon was more anti-socialist, so Arnold declared himself a Republican.

Arnold invites his fellow immigrants, and all Americans, to support the "big tent" version of the national Republican Party,
supposedly welcoming moderates as well as conservatives. He stresses several secular planks of the Republican platform, while avoiding any mention of sectarian religious issues (such as abortion and same-sex marriage). He avoids attacking any individual Democrats.

But to those Democrats who voice pessimism about the future of the U.S. economy, he says:
"Don't be economic girly-men."

He presents a very patriotic view of America, from an immigrant's perspective. "We are still the lamp lighting the world," offering hope to persons who live under tyrannies. "America brings out the best in people."

Arnold leads the crowd in chanting, "Four more years."

Afterwards, the Bush daughters chirp, "We love Arnold.
Isn't he awesome?"

While Arnold excites the delegates, the First Lady doesn't.

Many delegates must be wishing that Arnold were eligible to run for President.
But under the federal Constitution, he can't rise any higher than U.S. Senator.

BBC comments that the evening seems more like a Broadway show than a political convention;
and that it's aimed at undecided voters, especially women and immigrants.

The Washington Post says "Man of Steel Flies Into Gotham".

"The real Schwarzenegger",
who may soon become more visible,
as he signs or vetoes hundreds of bills.

hey, TV just flashed photographs of the special protesters that the police were going to assign 7 police officers to each. Supposedly some of them were from California, but I didn't recognize any of them - although it went by really fast. Does anyone have a link to these photos anywhere?

The anti-woman and anti-gay trash talk, "girly man," certainly does not win the female vote. As to immigrants, his opposition to driver's licenses for immigrants who happen to be undocumented is well-known among immigrants so it is difficult to see how he could attract immigrants who are citizens. I can assure you my mother would never vote for him. She remembers Austria as being more anti-Semitic and pro-Nazi in the 1930s than her native Germany, from which she fled the Holocaust. We know Austria today as having no death penalty, just like the rest of Europe, while Herr Schwarzenegger supports the death penalty. Austria also has a national healthcare system, as does the rest of the industrialized world, unlike the US. We all wonder why Schwarzenegger left Austria for the US, a profoundly backward step. To tell the world he supports Nixon certainly does not win any votes, as Nixon is usually historically opposed to Kennedy, who was no angel, but the anti-Semite Nixon makes anybody look better. Schwarzenegger apparently has no concept as to who votes.

In fact, the presidential election is just a referendum on the economy in a large country like the US. So far the polls show the two capitalist thugs running about even, which means Bush can and will commit election fraud, which he did the last time not only in Florida, but also in every major city in the US, all of which have election-frauding machines, courtesy the Democratic Party. San Francisco's may be found at http://www.brasscheck.com/stadium

Rather than waste our time and risk our lives with this circus where we can change absolutely nothing, we will actually change things if we organize labor. The reason for all the political weaknesses in this country is that labor is very weak.

Here's the SF Chronicle report on Arnold's speech,
by Chron reporters attending RNC in NYC:

.......

P.S. from Tortuga Bi Liberty:
I listened to the RNC on Monday (McCain/Giuliani)
and Tuesday (Arnold/Laura). And posted summaries.

I'm NOT a Republican, and have no sympathy for that party;
but I thought the Giuliani and Schwarzenegger speeches were
interesting (at least if one is a news addict...).

I'm not likely to report about Wednesday night (Dick Cheney),
or Thursday night ( W);
unless there's a "September surprise".

I HOPE that more reports of the anti-Bush demonstrations are now appearing, or soon will appear, on the queer page of IndyBay.org --
or at least postings of links to articles & photos elsewhere, especially on IndyBay.

( I scan the queer page at least once a day, looking for articles I can forward to my two Yahoogroups; but I don't scan the non-queer pages;
so I appreciate such links.
For me, emotionally, the queer communities, along with the "sex communities", are my extended family; even including a few persons whom I hate, as well as the many whom I love, and the uncountable persom whom I don't know about. That's why I scan the queer page, and usually ignore the rest of IndyBay.org )

Rambling incoherently,
Tortuga

Girlie men! Get over it!

Most polls show that among legal immigrants they strongly support not giving licenses to illegal immigrants. They oppose this because they feel it’s unfair to reward someone one who didn’t go through the process that they did? And out of curiosity – how many countries give driver licenses to “undocumented” citizens?

And there is a major fallacy in your argument in assoicating Arnold with Nazism. Arnold wasn't born until 1947 and didn't grew up during the Nazi reign of the 1930’s. Also during the 1950/60 the Soviets were in in charge and they strongly opposed Nazism and stamped it out when ever possible.

As to the "girly man" comment – I have yet to see a protest of SNL, Nealon, and Carvey from where the term “girly man” originated. I suggest that you put a ban on SNL on your website too.

Well, Arnold is such a underwhelming actor. There are lots of other movie figures who played the same type of action adventure roles who could actually deliver lines and do stunts. Arnold's current celebrity comes from a circular type of process where he gets more attention due to past celebrity.

He has been doing this shtick for a long time where he comes out, repeats a few famous lines from his 1980s movies, and people cheer. I remember in 1991 when I was at a 9th grade cross country meet, he was on his Bush Sr. physical fitness presidential tour, and in Richland, WA the whole town turned out and he said some things like "I'll be back" and "pump you up" and talked about his father in Austria encouraging him to play soccer etc. Notice how nothing has changed. He won the governorship with the same presentation, or repeating a few movie lines.
by girly-man
don't forget that he starred in one of the greatest feminist propaganda films ever made, "Terminator II." There are women out there asserting themselves today because when they were kids, they saw Sarah Conner kick robot butt, and said to themselves, hey, I could do that. Buffy and Xena came later, much later.

Then there was "Total Recall," as inspiring a condemnation of corporate hegemony as has ever been filmed.

Even "Predator" went out of its way to make the CIA look bad.
