Darth Vega The Coming War At the San Francisco Chronicle The Crisis In The AFL-CIO and The Future Of Labor.
Join Labor On The Job when we look at the record of Frank Vega, the newly appointed publisher of the Hearst owned San Francisco Chronicle. The newspaper unions are now locked in negotiations with the management and Vega's appointment is a shot across the bow. Vega was a key player in breaking the back of the Detroit newspaper workers in a strike that began in 1995. Joining the show will be former Detroit News Teamster Shawn Ellis who now works with the Detroit AFL-CIO and CWA-ITU labor activist Barb Ingalls at the Detroit News and Paul Kulka of IBT372 and the Detroit News. We will also have footage from the Detroit newspaper strike.

Also on Labor On The Job we will be taking a look at the crisis in the AFL-CIO and the future of the labor movement. Joining the show will be Pat Mulligan, Secretary Treasurer of UBC Carpenters Local 22, Carl Bryant NALC 214, Jack Rasmus Chair of Bay Area Chapter NWU-UAW 1981, Mike Griffin, UBC Millright and Chair War Zone Education Foundation and Ralph Schoneman Communications Chair of the Million Worker March. <http://www.millionworkermarch.org>
