Hotel Workers in San Francisco are continuing their fight for a decent contract
The employees of the fourteen hotels involved in the fight have called for a boycott of their hotels.
What's At Stake:
Hotel Workers in San Francisco are continuing their fight for a decent contract.
On August 14th the union contract for San Francisco hotel workers expired. The hotels' proposals were horrible, including charging a $275 co-pay for medical benefits. The employees of four San Francisco hotels went on strike for two weeks to protest this greed. Two days later, ten other hotels denied their workers access to their jobs, "locked them out." Even after the two-week strike ended, all fourteen hotels continued to put their employees on the street. The lockout lasted for 51 days, ending the week before Thanksgiving, but a contract was not signed. While negotiations continue, the hotels are still threatening major cuts in healthcare, including trying to take away medical benefits for many hotel workers and their families. They are also threatening to lock out the employees again now that a sixty day "cooling-off period" has ended.
The employees of the fourteen hotels involved in the fight have called for a boycott of their hotels. These hotels only care about their income and we need to send the message that we will not help them hurt working women and men in San Francisco. Please send a FREE fax pledging your support of the San Franscisco Hotel Boycott.
