PeoplePC-Earthlink Out Sourcing 200 Tech Jobs

by John Conner
A short article about the impending out sourcing
at PeoplePC-Earthlink.
A total of about 200 Technical Support Representatives at
PeoplePC-Earthlink in Albuquerque New Mexico are being
told that their jobs are being outsourced to India by this
summer. The TSRs are employees of a firm called Client Logic in Albuquerque NM, so they are subcontractors of
Earthlink-PeoplePC.

PeoplePC is headquartered in San Francisco, and has joined
the ranks of the multinational corporations that no longer care
about the American worker, or their families. Many of the
TSRs have families, and children, who will be adversely effected by the possibility of layoffs.

Employees at the Client Logic firm are currently being told that the firm will find another client to replace PeoplePC, or
be hired in other jobs at the firm. Whether this will occur no
one at the firm is certain.

Earthlink-PeoplePC no longer is concerned about American
workers, but about increasing profits, regardless of who it
effects.

Just a little note on the move to India... You've got some facts wrong. The people in Abq. are not employees of PeoplePC-Earthlink. They're employees of ClientLogic. ClientLogic has stated that they're going to keep us, and when they say that, it can usually be trusted.
When Earthlink moved their tech support division to India, they didn't lay off anyone. When Buy.Com when belly up, they didn't lay off anyone. When LagunaWave quit their contract, THEY DIDN'T LAY OFF ANYONE. At ClientLogic, unless you really muff up the rules, they keep you. And yes.... There are new clients coming in. The move isn't going to be until August/September, and there have already been several interested parties touring campus, so to speak.
So you can take your 'they're worried about their jobs' attitude and float it right out the door. The only people that are leaving CL are PeoplePC as a company.
