Connecticut and Arizona legislation needs your help

by In Defense of Animals
Just a couple of minutes of your time can help animals tremendously. These important pieces of legislation need your help!
Connecticut Considers Ban on Traveling Elephant Exhibits

Connecticut Representatives Fontana and Urban have introduced a bill that will prohibit the use of elephants for the purpose of entertainment by traveling shows, theatrical exhibitions, and circuses. The bill is scheduled to be heard by the Environment Committee on March 4. Please help get this important bill passed by the Environment Committee by writing to the Committee Chairs.

Arizona Legislators Kill Animal Protection Bills

Legislators in Arizona killed three bills directly aimed to improve protection of Arizona animals before they could even be heard in committee. House Bill 2302, an improvement of the definitions of requirements for food, water, and shade for all Arizona animals and HB 2489, making all animal fighting illegal in Arizona both were killed this week by Representative Eddie Farnsworth of the Arizona House Judiciary Committee. SB 1288 to prohibit the slaughter of horses in Arizona met a similar fate.
Senator Jake Flake refused to put the bill on the agenda of his Natural Resources and Rural Affairs Committee. While there are currently not any horse slaughterhouses in Arizona, the bill would have prevented them from being built. All three bills had widespread support from the animal protection community, but were objected to by animal agriculture entities.

It is paramount that we take a stand against this corruption of the democratic process and speak for the animals who can't speak for themselves. Please click here http://ga0.org/campaign/Arizbills to quickly send an email to voice your objections and urge the legislators to allow HB 2302, HB 2489, and SB 1288 to continue their legislative course by being attached to other bills that have been heard in committee, a practice that occurs frequently in government.
