After the World Environment Day mayoral reception at the Metreon,
get ready to be enlivened by an evening of acclaimed, socially-conscious
performing artists and musicians. Featuring poet laureate of
San Francisco, devorah major; slam-winning poets, Aya de Leon
and Shailja Patel; Brava Center for the Arts hip-hop theater troupe
Colored Ink; Oakland’s premiere urban dance companies, Destiny
Arts and DREAM; poet Rashidi Omari from Company of Prophets;
Aimee Suzara, and young poets from Youth Speaks; live music by
Dialectic and Soulography; SF’s favorite emcee: Nafis; DJ Treat U
Nice, and surprise guests! Speakers from local organizations will
share information. Other artists TBD: Joyo Velarde, Loco Bloco.
The Blue Cube is the hottest, new, environmentally-conscious club
in S.F. Two floors of music and art. Organic Food will be available.
All ages are welcome.
$10-25 Sliding Scale to Benefit Local Youth Projects
