Venezuela and the Bolivarian Revolution Film Series. A scholarship fund-raiser for: The 16th World Festival of Youth and Students in Caracas, Venezuela

“Venezuela Bolivariana: People and Struggle of the Fourth World War” By Marcelo Andrade and the "Calle y Media" Collective. This 76 min documentary examines the Bolivarian Revolution of Venezuela as connected to the world-wide
movement against capitalist globalization. The film shows the evolution of the popular movement in Venezuela from the "Caracazo" riots of 1989 to the massive actions that brought revolutionary president Hugo Chavez back to power, 48 hours after a U.S.-led military coup in 2002.

“Puente Llaguno: Claves de una masacre” (Llaguno Bridge: Keys to a Massacre) by Angel Palacios. This documentary uses live footage to unravel the ”conspiracy” that led to the short-lived April 2002 coup d'etat. The film argues that the anti-Chávez opposition alliance manipulated coverage -- Venezuela's private media are overwhelmingly opposed to the left-leaning president -- to make it look like the government used gunmen to shoot and kill opposition demonstrators on Apr. 11, 2002 at Puente Llaguno in Caracas.

Sliding scale donations $10 and up will be appreciated. Traditional Venezuelan food will be for sale.
