SEIU Local 790 Invites You and Your Organization
To Its Membership Convention: Beat Back the Arnold Attack!
--- Community-based Workshops --- March and Demonstrations

Saturday, June 11, 9 AM to 5 PM, Berkeley Community Theater
1930 Allston Way, Berkeley CA, (Between Milvia and MLK Jr Way)
(Community-based activities begin about 1 PM, see below.)

SEIU Local 790 is a union of a broad range of public employees including health, schools, and transportation in the San Francisco, East Bay, Sacramento, and San Joaquin areas.

Local 790 is having its first-ever Member Convention as an opportunity to plan a fight-back during the worst attack ever seen on working people, children, families, seniors, disabled people, and the poor. Corporations and government are ripping up the New Deal social contract and trying return us to pre-1930s poverty and insecurity. Schwarzenegger is leading this attack on the State level. See

Local 790 invites you and your organization to participate in the Convention’s early-afternoon workshops on (1) Retirement, Social Security and Pensions, (2) Healthcare, (3) Schools, (4) Local Government, and (5) Building Political Power.

Then at 2:30 PM, there will be a short (0.8 mile) march through downtown Berkeley with short demonstrations on Retirement, Healthcare, and Schools along the way. The demonstrations will be joined by community contingents marching from nearby locations to participate. See
