Benetton Protest

Date:
Saturday, July 02, 2005
Time:
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Event Type:
Protest
Organizer/Author:
Val
Location Details:

Hi All, I wanted to let you know about an upcoming demonstration in
your area. Valerie and a few friends are going to be holding a
protest against the Benetton store at 2 Princess Street in Sausalito
(Marin), from 2-3 p.m., on Saturday, July 2nd. Please join them!
Please RSVP to Val at valkikumizu@... or call her at (415) 250-
4082.

We are calling on people to boycott United Colors of Benetton until
they stop buying wool from mutilated lambs in Australia (read about
it here:
http://www.unitedcrueltyofbenetton.com/index.aspx
and watch the
video:
http://www.petatv.com/tvpopup/Prefs.asp?video=save_the_sheep).

In Australia, lambs are put through a gruesome procedure called
mulesing, in which huge chunks of skin are sliced from the
animals'
backsides, with no painkillers given to the animals. In addition to
this horrific cruelty, they suffer through life export, which
confines sheep to open-decked, multi-tier ships, and takes them to
countries in the Middle East, where animal welfare standards are
virtually non-existent. Benetton continues to purchase wool from
Australia, although many other companies like Abercrombie & Fitch,
J.Crew, Timberland, Limited Brands, and Nordstrom have taken a stand
against the cruel practices of the Australian wool industry.

This is your chance to make your voice heard for animals! Please
bring your friends, family, and co-workers and come out to let people
know about this horrific, unnecessary abuse.

Signs, stickers and literature provided, just show up. Thanks.
