I live on Rigby Ave. in Rio Dell and I was told that Nanning Cr. is somewhere across the river from my house. We moved here last year and are not familier with all the roads and creeks. We do not see these trees from our house. These look like big trees and I would not like to see them cut. How can I confirm your story and how can I see these trees so I will know you didn't take these pictures in the redwood park? Thank-you for your time.

yes, indeed, you can see the mouth of nanning creek from the river bar next to the rio dell trailer-park area. Its the one with the old railrad bridge crossing it. Since the watershed is very steep and there are those imense cliffs next to the river the only way tro see the THP (which is farther up the canyon) it to walk there. Maps of the roads and THP can be obtained from the california department of forestry. As to the park idea...marbled murrelets nest in old growth and this THP covers the highest quality unprotected nesting habitat left on PL land and has been clearly documented as such by the state and federal wildlife agencies.

thank-you for the information. since we sent our first letter we have located the area and can see some big trees. we will hike into the area sometime in the near future. is there anything we should know like can we be arrested or is this covered in the permit from the state?
