What is Leftist Lounge? The baddest Left Coast dance party for all our
revolutionary brothers and sisters!! The Lounge exists to help build a
strong culture of resistance in the Bay. The Left needs some goddam unity.
Wit me? We're stepping up to play our part in building that unity among the
Bay Area left by creating a popular, fun, non-sectarian space for people to
come together across ideological lines (anarchists, communists, socialists,
revolutionary nationalists, etc.) Together, we want Leftist Lounge to be a
space that is rooted in the resistance struggles of oppressed communities -
particularly communities of color in the U.S. and third world liberation
struggles.

Build unity? Why not just have a meeting? Raise your hand if you want to go
to another meeting? That's what we thought. We believe that the left needs
its struggle rooted in culture as much as politics. Dancing might not be the
winning strategy to getting revolutionary change, but it sure can move us
forward (and move our asses in the process).

Wow. So you all come up with this shit on your own? The first Leftist Lounge
was held in Boston in July of 2003. The folks in Boston have had six Lounges
now, and they keep getting bigger and fresher? A few revolutionaries in the
Bay (a couple originally from Beantown!), were hella feelin the vibe of the
Boston Lounge. They thought, "Geez, if only we could bring together the
Commies and the Anarchists in the Bay, things would be SO different." They
pulled a team together, reached out to as many different political circles
as possible, and Leftist Lounge Bay Area was born! The Bay Lounge has taken
a life of its own, and keeps going, and going, and going, and going.

On Friday, September 30 we take it to the next level, with the Bay Area
Leftist Lounge number 3! Featuring some of the Bay Area's most notorious DJs
and artists. Be there. Your people will.

This time around proceeds from the Lounge will be benefiting three
organizations rooted in social justice struggles in the Bay Area, Just Cause
Oakland, Malcolm-X Grassroots Movement, and Left Turn.
