S.F. Police raid musical event in SOMA

by Mikhail Steplov (kenneth_tyrone [at] riseup.net)
Music event at collective space in SOMA disrupted by police and fire marshals: 2 arrests, one beaten
At approximately 10:00 pm, New Year's Eve, a musical event hosted by members of collectively-run performance space located at 252 9th Street in the SOMA district of San Francisco was raided by Fire Marshals and officers of the S.F.P.D.

Using a flimsy pretext of code violations- involving a code limiting occupancy of the space to 50 (total present were roughly 35) - and the sale of alcohol to minors (no minors were, in fact, present)-.Fire Marshals entered the space in the middle of a performance by Ryan Harvey, followed shortly thereafter by several policemen.

2 people present were arrested- one following a totally unprovoked brutalization on the part of four police officers.

More to come as events unfold.
