Images of a Threatened Oldgrowth Forest
These are pictures taken by forest defenders in a newly threatened oldgrowth stand.
The Pacific Lumber Company tried to hide the fact that they are planning to clear cut this 22 acre oldgrowth stand above Harmonica Creek, a tributary of Bear River, south of Avenue of the Giants. The PL Forester who wrote the plan says there are no trees above 4 1/2 feet wide here but some of the pictures clearly depict trees 6 or more feet in diameter. The logging plan has not yet been approved. This is just one of the oldgrowth groves that the company plans to log this year. There are other oldgrowth logging plans in Bear River that will also be cut this year if this criminal corporation gets its way.
