Two Bay Area Events for Mumia This Week
Oakland Rally for Mumia on Friday, Night of Music and Poetry on Sunday.
The fight to free death-row political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal has reached a crucial juncture. On October 4, 2006, his legal team's Reply Brief in response to the briefs submitted by the district attorney will be filed on behalf of Mumia in the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, in Philadelphia. Once the briefing phase is complete, his attorneys will present oral arguments before a three-judge panel in the U.S. Court of Appeals.

On Sunday, September 17th a Night of Music and Poetry for Mumia Abu-Jamal will be held at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. This event, which will begin at 7:00pm, will include Boots Riley, Jack Hirschman and devorah major, present and past Poet Laureates of S.F., Jonathan Richman, Aundre the Wonderwoman, Matt Gonzalez, Naru, Upsurge's Raymond Nat Turner & Zigi Lowenberg, Omo-Shango, Poets Agneta Falk, Merle Woo and Nellie Wong, Jeff Mackler and others. The night starts at 7:00pm, and entrance will be $20 in advance or at the door. Postcard graphic
