Bay Area events as part of the Feb. 7th International Day in Solidarity with the Haitian People
*** San Francisco - Wed., Feb. 7th - Gather 4:30 pm for a 5 pm rally at Powell & Market (Powell St. BART), then march down Market, left on Montgomery to 300 Montgomery, where we will rally and picket the Brazilian Consulate General. A delegation will try to meet with the Consul General earlier in the day. The UN troops in Haiti, responsible for almost daily killings in popular neighborhoods of the Haitian capital, are commanded by a Brazilian general.

*** Berkeley - Mon. ,Feb. 5th - 7:00 p.m. (Get there early to get speaker's card). Speakout on Haiti at the meeting of the city's Peace & Justice Commission, North Berkeley Senior Center, corner Martin Luther King and Hearst Ave. The Commission is considering a Resolution on Haiti to be presented to the Berkeley City Council.

*** San Jose - Wed., Feb. 7th - 5:00-6:00 p.m., Speakout and leafleting at the south end of Cesar Chavez Plaza, corner Market and San Carlos streets.

*** Richmond, California - Tue, Feb. 6th - 7:00 pm - Speakout on Haiti in the public forum of the Richmond City Council meeting, 1401 Marina Way South, Richmond. The Speakout on Haiti is sponsored by the Richmond Greens.

*** San Rafael - Wed, Feb. 7th - 4:30 - 6:30 pm - Vigil on the corner of 3rd & Irwin, downtown San Rafael. "People are urged to make signs and posters in solidarity with the people of Haiti and urging an end to the repression by UN troops."

*** Sacramento - Fri, Feb. 2nd, 7 pm -- Event "in honor of Black History Month and International Haiti Solidarity Day." Film showing and an eyewitness report on human rights abuses in Haiti by Leisa Faulkner, president of the Coalition for Democracy in Haiti and executive director of Children's Hope. Hinde Auditorium, Sacramento State University.
