Volunteer work is food for 90-year-old's soul
Article about a 90 year old woman, Novelean Harris , is still volunteering at her church. Her work over the years has made a great different in her community.
I truly enjoyed the article “Volunteer work is food for 90-year-old's soul,” by John Geluardi. It is a very touching story showing how one woman’s commitment to help has put smiles on many faces at Richmond Missionary Baptist Church. It’s amazing how even at the age of 90 she is still volunteering and helping 16 hours a week for the past 15 years. It’s truly an amazing story of how woman who cares a great deal about her community and those who are less fortunate. Its incredible how one person can make such a difference in their lifetime. It makes me think of what I can do for my community, like volunteering at the hospital or at the local church. I have volunteered in the past but I know my services haven’t left a mark quite like Harris has. She truly epitomizes what a good community member is. I love the statement Campbell makes, “That's the thing government will never be able to provide. It's the community that will ultimately make things better, and Ms. Novelean Harris personifies that.” It goes to show how one person’s work over the years can leave a great mark in the community. Novelean Harris is a wonderful person with a very big heart. Every community should have a person just like Harris.
