Dear Friends,
The longest-running Bay Area political arts festival is on again. This
year, it is being produced by Art in Action graduate, poet and
performer, Alicia Raquel.
All proceeds go to support Art in Action youth scholarships. Your
presence means everything to us...hope you can make it!
$15, but NO ONE turned away for lack of funds...call Alicia, if you
can donate food or want to volunteer. Info below...pass it on! (Sorry
for double posts.)
Also, if you can't make it to the Fest, but want to help our
Oakland youth get the the US Social Forum, we are seeking urgent
support NOW!

Art in Action will offer several creative activism workshops at
the U.S. Social Forum (USSF) in Atlanta this June. The USSF will be an
historic event that will bring together 10,000-15,000 activists from
all over the country who are working to build a more equitable nation.
The theme offered is, “If Another World is Possible, then another U.S.
is necessary.”
In years to come, we believe, people will ask, "Were you in Atlanta?"
It will be a momentous occasion for change makers to gather to
cultivate strategies to address climate change, economic justice,
ending the war, movement building and more.
In addition to teaching dance, music and visual arts, we plan to bring
several urban youth to share in this once in a lifetime opportunity.
These amazing Art in Action graduates are now leading their
communities using creative tools for transformation. By going to the
USSF, they will gain an invaluable experience by meeting progressive
leaders from dozens of organizations from around the U.S.
PLEASE consider contributing to our USSF Travel Fund.
$1000 covers travel, food and accommodations for one person.
Thank you in advance for helping provide this opportunity. We will
offer exciting report backs when we return!
