FRSC: Santa Cruz Roller Girls Interview
In studio interview with members of the Santa Cruz Roller Girls a DIY all Women team talk with Phil Free about the art of roller derby, creating SCRG and the upcoming first season starting March 15th at the Civic.
Listen now:
Santa Cruz Rollergirls LLC (SCRG) is the first all-female, full-contact, flat-track roller derby league in Santa Cruz! SCRG was established in 2007 by women who had a dream to bring the sport and art of roller derby back to Santa Cruz. SCRG is operated by the skaters, for the skaters. Behind the scenes, skaters practice three to four times a week and do off-skates cross-training as well. All members participate in the operation and business of the league.
Currently, we are preparing for our highly anticipated first season that will consist of approximately 8 games from Spring to Fall. Our game schedule is posted in the "schedule" section of our site!
SCRG has a non-skating membership program--we call them The Ghostriders (no, that's not a type-o). If you are interested in getting involved, email us!
