G8 Demo in SF Confounds Bldg Security
It was a teachable moment for activists in San Francisco today, who found themselves explaining globalization to building security at 50 Fremont St., location of the Japanese Consulate.
A small group of demonstrators with a No G8 canvas banner were outnumbered by security officers and a building manager who were unaware of the National Day of Action.
Today is a call for demonstrations at Japanese consulates and embassies throughout the world to protest the harassment of activists and independent media reporters over the last two weeks. The G8 summit was held early this week in a remote location in northern Japan.
Photos to follow in PT II later today.
