Part of Wikipedia's definition of riot is as follows: A riot is a form of civil disorder characterized by disorganized groups lashing out in a sudden and intense rash of violence against people or property.

This was a relatively small event in terms of the number of people who vandalized property. Having followed the group closely for the duration of its destructive tendencies I would say no more than 15 or 20 (at the very most) were the ones who broke windows or lit torches to burn Cafe Pergolesi. But it is a form of civil disorder that appears to have been loosely organized and was sudden and intense. It targeted property.

You cannot verify that I am the one who filmed the footage, however the point I will make stands.

Just curious, what would you call this. And what would it have to be for it to be a riot in your book?
let's see if this gets any attention ... community talk-about or the media.
People are fed up. Peaceful left rallies and protests are dismissed as ordinary and the discussion they stimulate seems to isolate in the left community itself. Little dialogue is truely inspired.
What might this inspire. Ordinary, non-politically active people might put pressure on police and their own small communities to be aware of crime and truely take action to prevent future stabbings, rapes, murders, etc.
Leftisits might get inspired to create more effective direct action to address real problems.
It inspired me to make a contribution to MoveOn to create some real strategy on a national and networked local level to directly confront the corporate greed with specific political demands.
Wearing black, purposefully masking oneself and tarting corporations is a typical expression of anarchist "revolutionary" consciousdness.
Direct Action is the only way to change things. The unemployment amongst Black, Hispanics and the Youth is justification to destroy the private property of the corporate criminals that are deliberately and radically draining the economic pond causing permanent damage to the social and environment contract. The final act in a 40 year plan to destroy the trend toward enlightenment.

When you are attacked violently by the state with violent economic policy or jack booted thugs you must defend your self. However, jobs are not enough to fight for. Economic justice, the democratic distribution of wealth and guaranteed income. Guaranteed income, state paid for healthcare and education should be branded on the inside of our skulls. We should break things until we get what we want

Guaranteed income, state paid for healthcare and education are the only things that will allow our human union to reverse our diseased and destructive relationship with this planet and all of its creatures, the plants and animals that we have nothing but hate for.

That makes it okay, I suppose .

These businesses were just small businesses. Santa cruz is a very nice city and the cops there are not particularly bad as far as cops go. Bad choice of target for your grievances.
SANTA CRUZ IS NOT SAFE (WARNING TO VISITORS, TOURISTS, AND FAMILIES)......

AVOID!!!!
