COMMUNITY ACTION BOARD (CAB) TO HOST PUBLIC HEARING FEBRUARY 18, 2015

Public Hearing to hear testimony on Santa Cruz County poverty, asks the question,
“Are we meeting critical needs of people?”

The Community Action Board of Santa Cruz County (CAB) will hold a public hearing at 6:15 p.m. February 18, 2015 to solicit testimony from the public on its anti-poverty programs and on identification of needs that would determine planning for supporting the county's most needy for the years 2015-16.This public forum will be followed by another forum in Watsonville March 18th to ensure that both north and south county voices are represented.

The February 18th 6:15pm public meeting will be held at the Louden Nelson Community Center in Santa Cruz, CA. The public is invited to share opinions and experiences and provide comments on programs offered by the Community Action Board.CAB will combine public testimony with research to create formal report called the Community Action Plan, with the goal of having the plan ready for adoption by the board of directors in June 2015. The plan will then be submitted to the state Department of Community Services and Development for review. Bilingual translation will be available. For information, call 831 763-2147.

CAB operates six programs that combat poverty and the causes of poverty in Santa Cruz County. Programs include the Davenport Resource Service Center serving the north coast, the Santa Cruz County Immigration Project, the Shelter Project, the CalWORKs Emergency Payment Program, the ALCANCE (employment/training) program, and the Day Worker Center of Santa Cruz County. CAB has been serving the county for decades and will celebrate its 50 year anniversary in fall of 2015.

For additional information about this forum or to reach CAB and its programs visit CABinc.org or call 831 763-2147.
