A battle over who should pay for Super Bowl 50 events is brewing in San Francisco.
A new report shows the NFL is covering city costs in Santa Clara, but not in San Francisco.
"There is no deal," Supervisor Jane Kim said. "No one was fighting for San Francisco."
Kim said someone at city hall dropped the ball. The report from the Budget and Legislative Analyst's Office said San Francisco has no deal with the National Football League or the Super Bowl 50 Host Committee to cover the cost of hosting a week of events.
The events are expected to cost San Francisco more than $4 million for police and Muni services.
The City of Santa Clara has a deal in place.
"Santa Clara negotiated with the host committee to make sure it would be reimbursed and tax payers would not be on the hook for a party for some of the wealthiest people in the world, Kim said. "Here in San Francisco, we didn't do it."
The San Francisco Mayor's Office said existing budgets will cover the costs.
"We fully expect a financial win for San Francisco and the mayor is proud of the work the city did to win the bid to host this historic event and thanks the Super Bowl Host Committee for providing the free family friendly events," the mayor's office said in a statement.
With more than a million people expected to attend Super Bowl events, the host committee said hotel and sales taxes are expected to generate millions of dollars for San Francisco's general fund.
But some taxpayers said the NFL should pay for events.
With kick-off to the NFL's biggest game just weeks away, Kim said there is still time on the clock.
"Now I'm asking the Super Bowl committee that raised $50 million to provide some support to our city residents," Kim said.

Where is the "liberal" Democrat, Aaron Peskin, just elected from Supe Dist 3? We hear some protests from Kim & Avalos, but the rest apparently are silent when it comes to telling the press what they think about the Stupid Bowl swindle. This garbage would not exist if it weren't for the gambling money, and that is all it is. The Ethics Commission plans to demand an INCREASE in their budget despite the thug Democrat election-frauding mayor's request to cut budgets. The Ethics Commission is concerned with election fraud, among other things. For more on Mayor Lee's election fraud, see http://www.sfbg.com/politics/2011/10/24/vote-fraud-video-primer

Our protests have won a victory for our public transportation system since the thugs promoting the Stupid Bowl were going to cut our electric train and bus wires at the foot of Market St for the street party they plan to hold in the middle of the day during business hours, inviting all of the F students to this business promotional with free "food" aka hot dogs. They are not allowed to cut the wires and had to move their stupid noise-making, junk food promoting advertising racket to Justin Herman Plaza, outside the Hyatt Regency hotel, still 45 miles from Santa Clara, where the gambling racket Stupid Bowl will be held. They will also hold another party at the Moscone Center.

All city departments, except the police department, should demand MORE funding. The police department should be abolished since the police are not social workers and we do not need death squads; we need social services and PERMANENT, DECENT HOUSING FOR THE HOMELESS.

San Francisco is $11 million in debt to the America's Cup billionaire sailing racket, and the parasites who promoted it have yet to reimburse the city for that money, although they can easily afford to do so.

You will notice that ONLY Peace & Freedom Party and the Green Party oppose all stadium swindles and these gambling rackets. It is long overdue that everyone outraged about this till tapping by the Democratic-Republican Party for gambling rackets such as all professional big money sports (football, baseball, basketball, soccer and boxing) and rich folks' entertainment like America's Cup change their voter registration to Peace & Freedom Party and the Green Party.
