It is easy to find a fight on TBSC pages. In a 2015 post Samantha Olden warns users that all of TBSC is private and not to be shared and if you do….you will be banned. Exactly how you ban someone from a Non Profit is not addressed. TBSC has frequently received feedback even from their own members regarding their vigilante nature and online bullying and continually respond defensively . Of note is the fact that it appears that simply following a social media page makes you a "member."
Let's review a few pages from TBSC.
In a 2015 thread, a member was ‘caught’ sharing or cutting and pasting posts perhaps and must have referred to the group in a less than honorable light.
When a reader points out the inherent lack of privacy on Facebook he is soon banned and his departure a la Marie Antoinette is mocked by comments, “Grant has left the building.” The thread is long and members ask to be removed, leave voluntarily, and at least three are removed by admin and subsequently mocked.
In a more recent conversation regarding a TBSC protest at a gas station a member was booted for “violating TBSC rules of conduct" by Samantha Olden.
Apparently he mocked the fervor with which a group of people were going to protest a local business.
Truth be told, if you threaten violence or call for ‘vigilante justice’ comments will NOT be removed despite the verbal warning given in April and the assurances by admin that that the comments will be removed and that "member; will be dismissed In another February 2016 post a woman is photographed for purposes of public shaming, ( trespassing, certain she is about to break into a home or car) warning all of Santa Cruz that the police do nothing and quickly there are numerous calls for shooting , vigilante justice and a softened comment is made by Samantha Simon Olden but the call for violence remains as well as the person who made it and more violent comments follow. Although in April, Samantha Simon Olden assures TBSC readers that "We expressly oppose all criminal and vigilante behavior and any comments suggesting this type of behavior on our page will be deleted, would constitute grounds for dismissal and possibly reported to the authorities" this is not the case at all. TBSC selectively moderates their group . Ask a hard question, disagree with the propaganda and agenda of the day, you are out. Perpetuate, agree and buy into the fear and anger based propaganda , you are welcome to stay at the TBSC table, even if you threaten violence.
The question remains, is Santa Cruz safe with Take Back Santa Cruz ?
TBSC is laced with authoritarianists. Understanding that makes it easier to understand why they embrace TBSC member criminals yet despise anyone else that breaks any 'rules'. It's like the Trump thing...

In fact, I’ve found a single statistically significant variable predicts whether a voter supports Trump—and it’s not race, income or education levels: It’s authoritarianism.
That’s right, Trump’s electoral strength—and his staying power—have been buoyed, above all, by Americans with authoritarian inclinations. And because of the prevalence of authoritarians in the American electorate, among Democrats as well as Republicans, it’s very possible that Trump’s fan base will continue to grow.
My finding is the result of a national poll I conducted in the last five days of December under the auspices of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, sampling 1,800 registered voters across the country and the political spectrum. Running a standard statistical analysis, I found that education, income, gender, age, ideology and religiosity had no significant bearing on a Republican voter’s preferred candidate. Only two of the variables I looked at were statistically significant: authoritarianism, followed by fear of terrorism, though the former was far more significant than the latter.
Authoritarianism is not a new, untested concept in the American electorate. Since the rise of Nazi Germany, it has been one of the most widely studied ideas in social science. While its causes are still debated, the political behavior of authoritarians is not. Authoritarians obey. They rally to and follow strong leaders. And they respond aggressively to outsiders, especially when they feel threatened. From pledging to “make America great again” by building a wall on the border to promising to close mosques and ban Muslims from visiting the United States, Trump is playing directly to authoritarian inclinations.

fighting amongst ourselves is the goal. its as fake as pro wrestling.
he has made my life and that of my 8 year old granddaughters a living hell...pounding on the floor at all hours of the day and night, stealing my mail and returning my parking plackards to the dmv stateing that i was deceased. peeking into the bathroom windows, slandering me to my neighbors of 30 years who know me to be better than his fouled attempts to discredit me in such a way and making false allegations to law authorities about me assaulting him when he was yelling at me within three inches of my face and when i put my hand up to create a distance (and my hand touched his shirt) between us he screamed assault and had me issued a citizens arrest which the police said will all be dropped...i was not formerly arrested, no finerprints were taken i was not taken in or booked because as the police explained they have to follow procedure and i should not worry about this...
why are we spending so much money on needless citations and mediations and court time on bogus charges that only serve to cost an already financially challenged system even more money just to serve this vigilante agenda...if TBSC were responsable for all court costs in their bogus operation i bet they would be silenced once and for all...it's easy to be a bully when there are no consequences...i am paying the big bucks and have hired an attorney to address the idiot upstairs and it is worth it to see him go down once and for all....,his court date is april 20 for his involvement in blowing up an illegal hash oil lab in santa cruz in 2013 where three young boys received burns to over 70% OF THEIR BODIES AND WILL SUFFER THE RAMIFICATIONS OF THOSE INJURIES FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES!...and yet James Burtnett is a member in good standing with TAKE BACK SANTA CRUZ...
if this is the kind of garbage that footsoldiers this vigilante cult then i am better off without them and so is santa cruz...so who are they taking santa cruz back from again???...because i am thoroughly confused at this point!...not only has james lost my support as a human being but his own caregover and former member of this group has quit working for him...not a single person on our street will even give him a ride to his doctors appointments..we all know his truth and applaud his upcoming trial where the district attorney is planning to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law to see this jerk gets what he deserves...so who is the TBSC really protecting here?...because when i questioned their intent i too was dropped ....and i want to thank them for that!
