Can we win the battle against climate change?

Climate change is a formidable challenge to the world. It will affect the future of everyone on the planet. Are our human institutions capable of meeting the challenge?
Last December in Paris, representatives of 195 nations reached a landmark accord that will, for the first time, commit nearly every country to lowering planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions to help stave off the most drastic effects of climate change. It is an important step—but will that be enough?

At the March forum we will get answers from Kathy Dervin of the international climate change group 350*, which is “building a global grassroots climate movement that can hold our leaders accountable to the realities of science and the principles of justice.”

*The number 350 means reducing the CO2 in the atmosphere from >400 parts per million to below 350.

Health and climate change activist Kathy Dervin is co-founder of 350 Bay Area, a regional network of five local 350 climate action groups working to mobilize the Bay Area on climate action. She is the lead Climate and Health Policy staffer at the California Department of Public Health and represented US Climate and Health Alliance at the COP 21 Paris meeting.
