Popular Black, LGBT Comedian & Writer Sampson, headlines special comedy performance—to offer healing during a time of political divide, talk social justice & Promote Diversity in Comedy.

-OAKLAND, CA-
Next month, on Thursday March 2nd, Sampson McCormick (who performs under the mononym: Sampson), a popular and award winning stand-up comic, writer and social justice advocate, will headline a special, intimate comedy concert performance at the Port Bar on Broadway in downtown Oakland.

The black, LGBT entertainer, has been performing comedy for close to two decades, and uses humor as a platform to mix the silly with the serious, taking on serious issues such as religion, homophobia, race and sexuality, and has been a fierce advocate for LGBT homeless youth, people living with HIV/AIDS, and those affected by religious intolerance. He's written two books, "Taboo Village", and "Ebonic Faggotry", and in 2013 released a third live stand-up comedy album "That B*@&! Better Be Funny", which was recorded in DC at the historic Howard Theater. In addition to sharing his personal experiences on stage, he has also been very vocal about the lack of opportunities for minorities in comedy and entertainment, and recently released a new documentary “A Tough Act to Follow”, which highlights some of the challenges that minorities face in show business. Amid the current social and political climate in the country after the recent Presidential election, in addition to offering observational humor, he'll also be tackling politics and a POV from his perspective as a black, gay man and give all attendance some much needed laughter, with his show "Comic Relief From The Grief."
