This event is part of the 17th Annual Middle Eastern Heritage Celebration

The Middle East, once the "cradle of civilization", has endured colonialism, authoritarian rule, the oil boom, the Arab Spring, and a series of devastating wars driven largely by external interventions.

Dr. Sharat G. Lin presents a political economic review on how the various Middle Eastern countries have fared, the struggles that lie ahead, and hopes for the future.

Dr. Lin is a research fellow at the San Jose Peace and Justice Center, its former president, and frequent visitor to the Middle East.

Free and open to the public

Parking structure is located at the corner of Moorpark and Leigh Avenues.

The 17th Annual Middle Eastern Heritage Celebration is sponsored by San Jose City College Office of the President, Associated Students Government, Diversity Advisory Committee, Office of Vice-President of Student Affairs, and by EOP&S
