Science wants to be free! To be liberated, and liberating! people want to pursue knowledge outside of the confines of corporate funding, and government defense department spending! Imagine what could get done if the brilliant scientists of the world could follow their passion and inspiration rather than making new bombs or developing patented medicines to be sold at inflated prices that poor & sick people can’t afford!
Science has long been used as a tool by the rich and powerful against the poor - bombs, chemical weapons, eugenics, forced sterilizations, GMOs that devastate ecosystems, etc. But it can also be a tool of and for the many. There are people, in nice labs or in messy basements, discovering amazing things that could make the world more beautiful for all of us. If you really love science, you also have to be committed to protecting it’s capacity to flourish & by combatting its instrumentalization by the forces of capitalism, fascism, white supremacy, patriarchy, transphobia, ableism, and all the other structural forces which USE & CONTROL science to oppress, exploit, damage, and kill.
For liberated science!
For a world without money, where people get things done because they want to!
Don't forget earth 2.0
