DAPL and The Wall - Santa Cruz City Council Votes Unanimously
Many Santa Cruz people turned out to build Trumps wall outside of Santa Cruz City Council Chambers before the council went on to vote unanimously to denounce Trump's wall on the Mexico and United States border. The council also voted not to invest in company's that may want to take part in the building of the wall! Inside the meeting, it was said by one person, that Bank Of The West had recently divested regarding DAPL.
In the Councils agenda they wrote, "Denouncing the President's Executive Order to Build a W Along the U.S. - Mexico Border and Recomend that the city of Santa Cruz Divest fro Any Companies Involved in the Construction of the Border Wall (CN)"
It went on to say, "Resolution detailing the human rights, environmental impact, and economic problems with the presidential order to build a wall along the U.S. - Mexico border and recommending that the City of Santa Cruz divest from any companies involved in the construction of a border wall"
Also in the council's agenda they wrote "Resolution to ban Wells Fargo Securities as the city broker dealer and terminate within 90 days any investment holdings with institutions funding the Dakota Access Pipeline for a period of five years (such as Certificate of Deposit with Comerica Bank) and guide the City Finance Director to issue a new competitive request for proposals (RFP) no later than March 31,2018 to qualified financial institutions to provide banking services to the City of Santa Cruz, and include socially responsible banking and fair business practices performance as a significant factor in bidding process."
