Santa Cruz People's Climate March and Rally
Climate Rally in the San Lorenzo Park and March thru downtown Santa Cruz, CA on Saturday 4-29-2017. I can't help but personally say, Trump's 100 days of doing nothing for the people or the planet!, but lining his and his cohorts pockets, as he has done all his life!
Many Santa Cruz people concerned with the earths warming, and wanting action regarding our climate, gathered in San Lorenzo Park at about 12:30 p.m.! They heard speakers, Indigenous songs, and Sadza Marimba Band, before marching to town. The march left San Lorenzo Park at about 2:30p.m. It headed toward town across the pedestrian bridge to River St., down Cooper St. and crossed Pacific Ave. onto Church St.
From there they marched onto Cedar to Cathcart St. and on down Pacific. They then returned to Cooper St. crossing River St. this time turning left onto Water St. before returning to the park. It was hard to estimate the amount of people that took part, but I would guess somewhere around 2000 or more.
The event and march was co-sponsored by the Santa Cruz Climate Action Network along with Santa Cruz Indivisibility, the Campaign for Sensible Transportation, Santa Cruz 350, and Women's International League for Peace and Freedom. Coinciding with many marches around the country, including Washington D.C.
